Privacy Policy

Effective June 9, 2026

Heed is an app that helps you read a confusing or loaded work message. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, how your message is used, what stays on your phone, and the choices you have. We tried to be honest rather than reassuring. Where something leaves your device, we say so.

Who this applies to

Heed is focused on the United States and is intended for adults 18 and older. By using Heed you confirm you are at least 18. See "Children" below.

What we collect

To use Heed you create an account and you submit messages to be read. Here is what that involves.

Account identity

Heed requires an account. You sign in with Apple, Google, or email. Through that sign-in we collect your account identity, which means your email address and the user identifier your provider gives us. We use this to create your account, keep you signed in, link your subscription to you, and respond when you contact us.

The work message you submit

When you ask for a read, you paste in a work message and tell us who sent it (for example, a boss or a peer). That text is what we process to generate your read. See "How your message is used" below for exactly where it goes.

Basic device and app data

Like most apps, Heed handles routine technical data needed to run, such as app version, device type and operating system, timestamps, and error or diagnostic information. This helps us keep the app working and fix problems.

Subscription status

If you subscribe, we receive your subscription status (active, expired, plan type) through the app store and our payments tooling. We do not receive or store your full card number; the app stores handle the payment itself.

How your message is used

This is the part to be clear about. When you request a read, the work message text you submit is sent to a third-party AI service that generates the read, which is the pattern name, the plain-language meaning, and the three reply scripts. That service processes your message to return the result to you.

We do not use your submitted messages to advertise to you, and we do not sell them. We are not going to claim your message is "never stored anywhere" or "deleted forever," because the processing runs through a third party whose own handling we do not control on your behalf. What we can tell you plainly is below.

What stays on your phone

Your reads, meaning your saved history of past results, stay on your phone. We store that history locally on your device, not in our cloud. If you delete the app or clear its data, that local history goes with it.

Subscriptions and billing

Heed offers a weekly plan and an annual plan, and starts you with a few free reads. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and managed through our payments tooling (RevenueCat) so we can recognize your subscription across your devices. Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. You manage, cancel, and request refunds through your Apple or Google account settings, not directly through us. We receive your subscription status, not your payment card details.

We do not sell your personal data

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not hand your account or your messages to advertisers, employers, or recruiters.

Data retention, in plain terms

  • Your reads and history: kept on your phone until you delete them or remove the app.
  • Account identity: kept while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your account identity from our systems, subject to anything we must keep for legal, security, or accounting reasons.
  • Submitted messages: we do not build a stored library of your messages in our cloud. The third-party AI service that processes a message may retain processing data under its own policies, which we do not control on your behalf.
  • Operational and diagnostic data: kept only as long as useful for running and securing the app.

Your choices and rights

You can stop using Heed at any time. You can clear your local reads from within the app. To delete your account and the account identity we hold, contact us at [email protected] and we will take care of it.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights such as the right to know what personal data we hold about you, to request a copy, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal data. We do not sell or share personal data for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of there, but you can still exercise the other rights. To make any of these requests, email us at [email protected]. We will not treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.

If you are in California, the rights above reflect the CCPA and CPRA. If you are in a region covered by the GDPR or a similar law, the rights above reflect those protections, and you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

Heed is for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used Heed, contact us and we will remove the account.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the data we handle, including sign-in through established providers. No app or service can promise perfect security, so we will not pretend otherwise.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
